This truck was out in a field near my familes' home. I drove by
it every day on my way to school and kept thinking that it would be a
cool project. So, one day my boss and I stopped and found the
owner to work out a deal. $180 and it was mine. The truck
was mostly original except for the engine, transmission, and
rearend. The engine was some sort of small block V-8 that was
shot. A lady at church gave me her old 1971 Chevy Nova in return
for doing some work on her car. My step dad and I took the 250
c.i. engine and rearend from the Nova and put it in the
truck. Other then the rear cab corners, the truck had no
rust. I patched those with fiberglass. A lot of sanding,
Bondo, and a coat of '87 Corvette yellow and she was pretty much done.

No pictures of the rebuilding process but here was the finished
product.

Here are my first three cars. Actually, an orange '79 Chevy
Chevette was my first car but I shared it with my brother. I
bought the 1969 Triumph TR-6 for $2200 when I was a senior at Round
Rock High School using money I saved from my job at Mervyn's. The
Chevy pickup was next. Finally, I got the '87 Nissan 300ZX when I
started working at AMD.

After getting the Nissan, my plan was to improve the steering and
brakes on the truck. I got it all apart and my step dad helped me
put in an AMC Pacer frontend. I read about that in an article
somewhere. It really worked out nice.
This is a far as I got with the
truck. I kept it through 2 different moves but the truck always
ended up in the garage and in the way. I wound up selling it.
