I spent quite a bit of time trying to salvage the bedsides. But,
I was not happy with the results. So, I decided to cut out most
of the sides and replace with new sheet metal. This turned out
very good. I should have done it this way from the start.
This picture here shows the 1.5" angle iron that I added to
stiffen/straighten the bottom of the bedsides. The corner wear
strips didn't seem like they would be stout enough. I ran these
flush with the front and rear cross members. The outside bed
planks will rest on top of these. Later, I will add the wear
strips which will hold down the bed wood.
