The repaired firewall after some primer and bondo. Only three
holes left. One for
the PCM, brake booster, and steering column.
Now with some paint.
One of the largest drawbacks of having new front clip instead of a
Mustang II suspension is the difficulty hanging the fenders and
attaching the front bumper. Here you can see the large metal
plates that I welded to the ends of Chevelle clip. These are
more than strong enough to support the front bumper and soon the
fenders.
The dash had numerous holes drilled into it over the years for who
knows what. This includes the radio holes which were "modified"
to fit a newer "shafted" radio.
I cut this out completely in order to patch with an opening for a
standard DIN radio
Done. This picture also shows some of the extra dash holes which
were filled by welding sheet metal plugs.
Some body filler to level out some 50 years worth of dings. No
major dents.
Primed cab.
I read on-line somewhere about using truck spray on bedliner to protect
the inside of the fenders. That stuff is sort of expensive but
goes on easy and I think should last a long time.
So far, I haven't painted anything that will be too visible once the
truck is done. It is turning out "ok" but I need to get better
before I paint anything that will show.
