Chassis
Looks like someone was using a cutting torch on the rear leaf spring
and then changed their mind. The lowering blocks installed on the
rear axle also look a little iffy. One pot hole and things could
have gotten ugly. Decided to start over with a brand new TCI rear
leaf spring kit from
Zig's
Street Rods. The kit included leaf springs, shackles, shocks,
and all the required bushings and hardware.
The chassis is moving along nicely after
lots of wire brushing, cleaning,
and
POR15.
Good shot of the new rear suspension. The spring pads will be
welded after the engine is in to make sure the pinion angle gets set
correctly.
The completed front suspension with new wheel bearings, upper and
lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings, and brake
rotors. New front shocks and coil springs were added soon after.
The finished rolling
chassis. I am happy with how this turned out. Should be a
good foundation for the rest of the truck.
